Practice in the Classroom: For a Quality Te Reo Māori Programme in an English Medium School

This third and final professional learning development day is being offered to those teachers and schools wishing to focus on practice and practising in a second language classroom.

The sessions will workshop theories and approaches in practical classroom contexts.  It is an appropriate follow-on from the big picture and team focused workshops 1 and 2 (taking place on 29 May and 12 June respectively).

This workshop is targeted at English medium schools and teachers, years 1 – 8, who want to embed this practice for 2019+. These teachers may have made a start with their Te Reo Māori me ōna Tikanga programme and will be looking to grow their confidence and capacity in the teaching and learning Te Reo Māori as a second language in a consistent, purposeful manner.

Schools have found it an advantage to come to the previous two workshops as a (lead) team.  It is also a good up-skilling opportunity for teachers new to schools that have worked in-depth with the Consultancy.

Creating a Quality Te Reo Māori Programme in an English Medium School

This is workshop one in a series of three.

In response to enquiries from schools about the sustainable implementation of teaching and learning Te Reo Māori in an English medium school, Jeanne shares successful processes and strategies for an interactive communicative programme.

This workshop is for English medium schools and teachers who wish to implement, integrate and/or rethink their teaching and learning of Te Reo Māori, years 1 – 8.  We strongly recommend that Principal and Lead Teacher(s) of Te Reo Māori attend this first workshop.
